Day 3
BANGKOK – KANCHANABURI
Location : Mae Klong Railway Market, Damnoen Saduak floating market
This early morning, after breakfast you will visit the local Mae Klong Railway Market (Hoop Rom Market) in Samut Songkhram Province (80 km – 1h15m transfer from Bangkok), commonly called Siang Tai (life- risking) Market where the stalls and parasols (or canvas) are attached to the railway. When each signal of the arriving train rings, chaos happens: vendors will rush to close their parasols and canvas, along
with clearing all goods that will obstruct the coming train at a great speed. Once the train passes, parasols and canvas will be reopened as goods are again put into their usual place next to the railroad. The practice is usual for vendors and local people, but not for tourists who will definitely find the scene exciting and enjoyable at each visit. After that, head to Damnoen Saduak floating market, this vibrant market features numerous small boats laden with colorful fruits and vegetables, paddled by Thai women wearing bamboo hats. Almost always
crowded with hundreds of vendors, purchasers and tourists, the best way to experience the atmosphere of the market is to board a rowing boat yourself and make your way through the small canals to buy fresh produce from the vendors. This is the only place to see the traditional way of selling and buying goods in Thailand. Continue to drive toward Kanchanaburi, head towards the Hellfire Pass, enjoy lunch at local restaurant on the way. Arrive at hotel to check in. Dinner on your own. Overnight at The Float House.
